TEDx ended up as a way for cranks and snake oil salesmen to launder their ideas through a façade of reputability with the TED name, because most people don't realize that anyone can organize / speak at a TEDx event with no oversight from TED.
- TheTrotters 5y agoTED isn’t necessarily much better. Plenty of talks are based on low-quality psychology research that doesn’t replicate (e.g. power poses). TED should be viewed as high-quality feel-good, inspirational YouTube videos, not an educational resource.
