Yes, it's a job. Very few actually care about their field. And if they started accepting their patients' research (most of which will be riddled with errors, sadly), they wouldn't get anything done. It sucks, but as with any human system, the majority has priority, minorities have to wait for their turn (and/or actively fight for it).
