Do you think the UI designers of Firefox or Windows make their decisions based only on scientifically approved facts? They probably have "UI scientists" who analyze and tell how to make the perfect UI but next year they are replaced by new experts and then we have to deal with the next best UI-trends. > improved information hierarchy What do you mean?
