It’s not just you – the Apple podcast app is a disaster
- meristohm 5y ago> [RE iOS 14.5] … any podcast episodes users might have earmarked but hadn’t yet subscribed to were automatically wiped off their phones with the update. If everything in that purgatorial space between Browsing and Downloaded had automatically rolled over into Saved in the new version, the change might have been almost understandable. The Apple Podcasts app is frustrating. Slow, buggy, sometimes unresponsive for too long. I far prefer smooth, accurate function over looks. I miss the F-Droid -hosted podcast app I used to use before switching to iOS for family connectivity. The update to iOS 14.6 hasn’t fixed the problems.
- ivank 5y agoI recommend trying Overcast if you haven't already excluded it for some reason. I spend a lot of time in it, with relatively few issues. The only one I encounter is that it sometimes starts using 100% CPU when still downloading an episode and turning on Airplane Mode.
- meristohm 5y agoThanks! It is an improvement over Apple’s Podcast app.
- phnofive 5y agoI'm happy to keep paying Marco $10 a year to leave Overcast's UI alone... I'd do the same for a secure but otherwise invisible browser.
- zingplex 5y agoI know this is a bit off topic, but with regard to a secure but invisible browser isn't that just Chrome?
- lucasnortj 5y agoThe app is fine. Stop whining
- ralphc 5y agoThe 14.4 and earlier has its own UI issues. I regularly show my podcast queue on my phone and take screencaps so I can rebuild my list when I do something in the UI and lose it.
