The rM1 I think has the capability to solder in a socket but it is not clear to me that the rM2 is similarly modifiable. The low storage and the lack of support for external storage via the usb-c port really make things unnecessarily complicated. There is a rm2-pogo project that hopes to use the built-in pogo pins to add support for external accessories such as keyboard and storage but it is still in progress I haven't checked out the remarkable-syncthing solution you mentioned in a different comment but it seems like a good idea.
