This software phenomenon has led me to feel the "reverse" of this in real life, and to start assuming some wild things, e.g., (a) I know someone was recently in the room with me; (b) they have not left through the doors or the window; (c) there are no good hiding places in the room; (d) they've >> temporarily left my field of vision and when I turn back around I don't see them << ... I immediately ponder the possibility they have disappeared (or been raptured) rather than just quietly walking to remain outside my field of vision as I turn around. So I start thinking that maybe impossible-in-real-life things actually have happened.
