- tomcam 5y agoThis article is literally about the history of the asterisk. This part surprised me: > in comics, where it is known as grawlix Learn something new. I was a professional tech writer for years and took a keen interest in typography but never knew this term.
- gjm11 5y agoNote that what the article says is "known as grawlix" isn't the asterisk but using symbols to replace letters when expurgating naughty words. So "$#!+" would be a grawlix, at least if it's a replacement for a word meaning excrement rather than a bit of Perl source code.
