JR Engineering was toxic for women. I spoke up and was fired
- TechBro8615 5y agoThis website is so user hostile, that if I press X on the giant modal, and then enter reader mode on Safari, it helpfully translates the text for me, a non-subscriber to this local newspaper: > Bu uif cfhjoojoh pg nz ufovsf, pof pg nz dpmmfbhvft xbt tfoejoh efhsbejoh qpsophsbqijd fnbjmt up uif nfncfst pg uif cpzt dmvc, xijdi jodmvefe uif upq cptt, Bbspo Dmvuufs, boe nztfmg. It’s hard enough to get traffic as it is. Does a click from someone with an adblocker really cost you any resources? You’re able to render this gibberish no problem!
- Doxin 5y agoROT25 in case anyone was wondering.
- TechBro8615 5y agoNice catch! I didn’t even suspect it could be a cipher. So they’re actually expending resources to stop me from reading it, because reading without an adblocker costs them resources. Humanities major logic I guess.
- Doxin 5y agoYou just know some poor developer got assigned a ticket titled "Encrypt articles" and just did the quickest possible thing to get rid of it. Rot25 isn't exactly secure, but it's a pretty good solution in a worse-is-better way. Very few people are gonna bother unrot-25-ing articles by hand.
