Hey y'all!
Around the same period last year, I quit my job at a FAANG company after being completely burnt out. For about 8 months, just thinking about software development was filling me with dread. I allowed myself to take some time off, got a dog and around February decided to try writing an app to bring to the gym to replace the spreadsheets I was using.
My main focus was to have fun while writing it. Pixels on screen rather than code quality. It was my first time in a while writing software for myself and it reminded me of why I got in this field in the first place.
I don't have grandiose goals for this app. I'm building an app for myself first and foremost. My personal goal is to make a $1000 so I'm not shooting particularly high, but the whole thing has been super fun and got me over my burn out. Reading the feedback from the testers I recruited at my gym has been extremely gratifying.
In any cases, if anybody is into weightlifting I encourage you to try my app and please send me feedback if you have any!
- pickle-wizard 5y agoHey thanks for posting this. I'm getting back into weight lifting after being out due to COVID and an injury. This looks handy. I've done 5/3/1 before and really like it. Just installed it, and will give the app a try.
