Information related to Taishan’s reactor number 1
- throwaway4good 5y agoIs this a statement related to: https://edition.cnn.com/2021/06/14/politics/china-nuclear-reactor-leak-us-monitoring/index.html https://edition.cnn.com/2021/06/14/politics/china-nuclear-re... Exclusive: US assessing reported leak at Chinese nuclear power facility ? Which speculates some sort of leak that is being covered up. So I guess if it is a cover-up then it is being covered up by the French company's official statements as well.
- blackbirdster 5y agoYes that's the same event. China is definitely trying to cover up something, though it could be small or more concerning, it is hard to judge. The whole setup is quite complex overall, France (/French company) has been looking for partners for those reactors since a while, as they couldn't finance those on their own. So there are many actors involved, and even more chances for any worrying event to be hidden.
- throwaway4good 5y agoOr maybe not: https://twitter.com/pretentiouswhat/status/1404330426823442434 https://twitter.com/pretentiouswhat/status/14043304268234424...
- blackbirdster 5y agoI'm not sure what you refer to? On Twitter I'm seeing the same information that on CNN, maybe with a more explicit phrasing.
- throwaway4good 5y agoThat there is nothing there. The reason the French company contacts the US state department is that they have to because of the US sanctions. The state department leaks and CNN spins something into the general anti-China narrative.
- aphroz 5y agoI am not sure we can trust information coming from both France and China. France is trying to sell these EPR reactors to several countries and so far the one they are building in France jumped from a 3.5B budget to 12B and it is still not finished. Then maybe the US try to make it look worst than it is for their own agenda. So I guess I will buy a Geiger counter since I am not far from it.
