So like any other car after 5 years?
People somehow got used to Tesla’s maintaining their value mainly because they didn’t really changed the design much so it’s hard to tell which year it is and that they were and somewhat still are supply limited.
- pjerem 5y ago> So like any other car after 5 years? Maybe it's a judgment error from me but I'd say more. There is this popular belief (which tends to be proven wrong with time) that batteries lose a lot of capacity with time. As for Tesla, it's a edge case since Tesla as a "luxury" branding. I'm thinking about other manufacturers since I don't want to put this much on a "second" car. In France we have a pretty successful EV car named Renault Zoé, I think I'll to start with this one, it have Ok specs and can be found used under 10k€.
- szszrk 5y agoI'm curious is that final price, with taxes and battery? New ones in Poland start (!) at almost 3x that, and used ones under 10k€ are only damaged and/or without battery. At your price it may make sense as a "car to commute".

- JPLeRouzic 5y agoIt seems available here: https://occasion.renault.fr/vehicules.html?pvTtc=4000-10000%2C&query=RENAULT%20ZOE&seo=0 https://occasion.renault.fr/vehicules.html?pvTtc=4000-10000%...
- szszrk 5y agoThanks. New ones are in somewhat comparable prices, but used ones are at least half price on your market.
- dogma1138 5y agoSupply and demand as well as the local market factors. Poland is poorer than France so a €40K car in France is relatively cheaper than in Poland even if the PLN price is nothing more than a direct conversion. So fewer people buy new cars and they keep the longer hence the higher prices in the 2nd hand market. Also I don’t know if it’s still the case but Poland used to import 2nd hand cars from Western Europe so if that practice is still going on there is likely still a reseller premium on 2nd hand cars.
- szszrk 5y agoYup, that's likely the case. Same for importing western cars on a large scale. This will change soon in my opinion. New laws in EU pumping up norms that cars have to meet are pumping prices as well. Demand for new cars is rising, you wait several months for a car even if you don't desire custom spec. More and more people just don't want to deal with "used premium cars as the same price as shitty new ones". Prices went really up. This pumped up used cars prices as well. I see a trend in which a 1-3 year old cars are a bit more expensive then new ones in car shop, but... available. I'm still wondering if this will end up in something at least a bit positive. It would be nice to have significant new cars sales - we would be finally treated as a market that means something and is worth caring for.
- pjerem 5y agoA brand new Renault Zoé is also 40k€, but since this car had a honest success, that EV are state subsidized, and that this car is old enough (first version is from 2012) to have proven himself, there are plenty used on the market today.
