I remain continually amazed how many people are incapable of just saying “no comment”.

  When asked "Are you cheating?" a "No comment" is pretty much a "Yes!", which is why they stumble.

    Yes, that’s true. But a short “no comment” also doesn’t give a damning and entertaining video clip of you stumbling around trying to say no without saying no. In general, if you're doing something bad, try to avoid going viral in the process. It’s the same reason why companies do it too. People forget a “no comment” faster than they forget an obvious lie or an insensitive corporate response.

      Oh, I agree, but once they are wrong footed ... You would think they would have that covered in prep "If some asks if you are using stickum/tar/glue you say 'The league frowns on such activities and ...'"
