Same upbringing - sugary cereals were a treat, rarely purchased. Once after I had moved out to my own apartment, my local grocery store had a massive sale on Captain Crunch, like 50 cents a box, it was insane. My roommate and I filled my car with them, guessing 100 boxes of cereal. It’s all we ate for about two weeks before we found ourselves stuck with about half of our purchase sitting in the storage closet for the remainder of our lease. Still can’t touch it to this day, grosses me out.
