A hapax legomenon, one of my favorite literary terms.

- Narretz 5y ago* A word that occurs only once in a given corpus. For example, if you list all the words in a book, it can have many hapax. That usually says something about the diversity of words an author uses. A hapax that is unique to all records of a language is quite rare.
- stevula 5y ago> A hapax that is unique to all records of a language is quite rare. Depends on how well attested the language is. In Koine Greek I would imagine they’re relatively rare, but in Etruscan or Epic Greek much more common.
