Vit D deficiency strongly exaggerates the craving for and effects of opioids
- WalterGR 5y agoThe original title should be used in submissions. In this case: "Vitamin D deficiency may increase risk for addiction to opioids and ultraviolet rays" But that's 4 characters too long. Here's a slightly modified title that both closely resembles the original and fits within the limit: "Vitamin D deficiency may raise risk for addiction to opioids, ultraviolet rays"
- LZ_Khan 5y agoAddiction to ultraviolet rays? That's a new sentence for me.

- btach 5y agoOriginal article (with link to PDF): https://advances.sciencemag.org/content/7/24/eabe4577 https://advances.sciencemag.org/content/7/24/eabe4577. I do not know much about testing mice in this study's context. In light of my unfamiliarity, I am astounded that up to 20mg/kg of morphine can be given to mice without fatally suppressing their respiratory drive! If I give a (human) patient even 1mg/kg, I am likely to kill them in absence of airway/respiratory support (not to mention their likely markedly reduced BP). Maybe I am misreading that which I am unfamiliar with. Fascinating, regardless!
