It sounds like you have a stake in the matter, otherwise assuming jingoism. Whatever your reasoning, having foreign interests, the means to assertion, and reducing carbon footprint are all issues that can be aligned. It's not really helpful to conflate them all unless you're dog-whistling. Fear is not a good motivator.
