I bought a new phone just this week, and I'm looking forward to putting a custom ROM on it in part also to have more control over this sort of thing.
- techrat 5y agoEven with a custom rom you still have to approve a native popup for each individual app update.
- selfhoster11 5y agoCustom ROMs usually allow root access, which lets you install the auto-update feature add-on for F-Droid.
- techrat 5y agoOh look, stock roms on phones with an unlocked bootloader also allow root access.
- selfhoster11 5y agoI'm not saying it's easy, I'm saying it's an available option in a very limited set of circumstances.
