What are the people claiming there’s a genocide doing?
- zthrowaway 5y agoGee, I don’t know, maybe trying to hold China accountable in hopes that they stop torturing and exterminating a sub-culture of their population… because it’s wrong?
- sudosysgen 5y agoThis is pretty bizarre. If they were doing so, why would anyone think that online criticism on an American forum would do anything to help? There is quite literally nothing that could be done about cultural genocide by a hostile superpower. There is already inherent value is trying to debate the truth, so I'm not saying you should stop if you genuinely believe what you're saying. But you're definitely not holding anyone accountable or doing anything to help the situation.
- zepto 5y agoPublishing news articles. So, this is activism on your part. Thanks for confirming that.
- xtian 5y agoWhy are you ignoring all the information I've posted after brow-beating me for it?
- zepto 5y agoNobody has “brow beaten” you for anything. As far as I can tell you have been happy to make these statements.
- xtian 5y agoEngage with my evidence or admit that you can’t.

- zepto 5y agoYou haven’t provided any evidence. Links to other people making similar arguments to yours are not ‘evidence’.
- dang 5y agoCan you please stop perpetuating this flamewar? It's extremely not helping. If you wouldn't mind reviewing https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html and taking the intended spirit of the site more to heart, we'd be grateful. If you think another commenter is abusing HN you can flag their posts and/or email hn@ycombinator.com so we can look into it. But pouring fuel on the flames makes you as destructive a contributor as they are, which is why the guidelines explicitly ask people not to.

- zepto 5y ago> Can you please stop perpetuating this flamewar? It's extremely not helping. If you’d stopped here, you’d have had my full support. > If you wouldn't mind reviewing https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html and taking the intended spirit of the site more to heart, we'd be grateful. With all due respect this is insulting. > If you think another commenter is abusing HN you can flag their posts and/or email hn@ycombinator.com so we can look into it. That doesn’t actually work for most things. Only when behavior becomes egregious are you able to intervene. It doesn’t do anything to engage with ideological memes which this site is rife with. > But pouring fuel on the flames makes you as destructive a contributor as they are, This is an overstatement and frankly a misread. I am happy to follow your guidance about disengaging from the thread, but you are misstating my intentions. Take a look at my involvement in this thread as a whole context. > which is why the guidelines explicitly ask people not to. Yes. And I don’t think it’s obvious that what I’m doing is ‘pouring fuel on a fire’ or outside the spirit of the site. I can see that a lot of flamy comments have been added to this tree, and generally I have ignored anything that seems to incoherent or includes personal attacks etc. I didn’t see either of those in xtian’s comment.
