Universities Have Formed a Company That Looks a Lot Like a Patent Troll
- riedel 5y agoIn Germany Fraunhofer (publically funded research institute), who is best know for their MP3 patent, also is engaged in many dubious patent pools with aggressive third parties. Generally I would support the idea of creating pools among universities and research institution if they establish strong underlying ethical principles. Otherwise those patents just go to other trolls... (The few patents I created are also imho mostly useful as counting patents or for trolling like so many CS related patents)
- aftermodern 5y agoif parent trolling is the profit margin de jour on patent profits, every entity that thrives on patents will join in
