It's a good ideology, and I would suggest following it where possible, but I do see certain bad assumptions being made. These are the sort of thing I always try to do, but recently I've wound up on a team with only myself to do all architecture, programming, documentation and story writing. We have 2 QAs a team manager and someone who's in charge of coordinating market activity and sort of doing product management, but despite having multiple projects on my plate, I am the only developer. I can document things just fine, but there is no replacement for me to train. I've honestly been trying to make myself replaceable, but sometimes management just doesn't understand how many people they should have hired and when people leave it can easily result in that becoming impossible. Under those circumstances people either burn out and lose those habits, or they simply find a new job and leave just to get away from the bad situation. I'm getting pretty close to burnout in my own situation and I'm eyeballing an escape plan before somebody else can end up putting even more work on me.
