Yeah, I don't think it will ever be completely banned. It might be restricted a little bit, though. But the big benefit that I see of self-driving is that a lot of manual driving becomes safer. Autonomous vehicles won't overlook motorcycles and Miatas. Autonomous cars will go a long way to making small, fun vehicles safe again.
