Elephants are one of the most fascinating animals that I have heard stories about from my uncle and dad. They grew up with quite a few of them. I might have said the same thing about dolphins and orcas. I find them equally fascinating, but unfortunately no family / goodnight stories about them, just what I have read and seen on videos. In my country, India, many elephants are killed each year on rail tracks. Its heartbreaking if you follow their story. A few years ago a young got stuck on the track some how. Seven elephants took position upstreams of the track and held steadfast even in the face of an oncoming train. All eight died. Then there is this story of this male elephant that would attack train engines because his partner was killed by one. They seem human or what should perhaps be aspirational/inspirational for humans.
