I already pay almost $20 per day for public transportation. Of course I would switch to robotaxis for $8.50/h. Door to door, guaranteed seat, privacy, isolation from body odors & food smells, noise, loud phone conversations, screaming kids, gossiping seniors, beggars, crazies, drunks, street musicians, touching arms & thighs, ads (maybe), conductors, jehovah's witnesses, campaigners and promoters. No more waiting in wet, windy or freezing weather conditions. Hello to custom schedules (also during the night), sleep, reading time, focus, freedom! Seriously, cant' wait.
- Mashimo 5y agoYou still have to buy the car. So you have to factor that into the $8.50/h. (Unless you also got a car now)
- eplanit 5y agoThat's a great list of public transportation experiences.
- smnrchrds 5y ago> I already pay almost $20 per day for public transportation. You may be an outlier. Usually people buy monthly passes for 150-200 dollars. It gets expensive when you have to commute from another town though, like taking the GO Train in Toronto. https://www.ttc.ca/Fares_and_passes/PRESTO/Monthly_Pass_FAQ.jsp https://www.ttc.ca/Fares_and_passes/PRESTO/Monthly_Pass_FAQ.... https://www.gotransit.com/en/trip-planning/presto/fare-discounts-with-presto https://www.gotransit.com/en/trip-planning/presto/fare-disco...
- rho4 5y agoCHF 545/month (= ~$600/month = ~$20/day): 1st class national travel card in Switzerland. I chose this instead of owning a car. https://www.sbb.ch/en/travelcards-and-tickets/railpasses/ga/overview-ga-travelcard.html https://www.sbb.ch/en/travelcards-and-tickets/railpasses/ga/... (see monthly prices).
- smnrchrds 5y agoSwitzerland! That explains the price! What is the difference between 1st class and 2nd class?
- rho4 5y agoSeparate wagons with typically 3 seats per row instead of 4, which are also a bit more comfortable. Less crowded, almost no kids and generally more quiet.
- smnrchrds 5y agoThank you for the explanation. I wish my country (Canada) had a better public transit infrastructure and was not so car-dependant.
