One of the core mindsets that I build within my teams is that everybody is important, but nobody is critical.
This drives a lot of our practices. We assume that anybody could leave the team tomorrow, and that we need to onboard their replacement on the quick.
Building teams like this isn’t easy, but the outcomes and second-order effects are amazing.
- calvinmorrison 5y agoI've lost more coworkers to promotions, transfers and medical emergencies, family problems, mental health breaksz maternity/paternity leave then I ever did to firings and quitting. Don't be a hero, don't work every day, build redundant systems where you can make an impact but can leave without blowing everything up.
