One or two market players decide user adoption is more important than actual
revenue, and start giving away product for free. Now the rest of the market
has to follow suit to compete. Upshot: code becomes worthless, and the market
becomes a winner-takes-all situation in which the goal is to parlay name
recognition to capital returns on equity, not profits.
