Point of reference. Barcelona has two fully automated lines (AFAIK, there might be some remote control) L9 and L10. They were built already with the idea of having no driver. Nontheless when a strike is in effect their frequency go down too. AFAIK it was negotiated this way between the unions and the subway company.
