The dude is smart and a billionaire. Most scientists dismiss other scientists for their cranky nonconformism all the time. Scientists are the most "not invented here" (NIH) type of folks ever unless they can get a grant to study it. So he publishes his own books and has theories.. he also has an army of smart PhDs working for him. There's no reason to discount his work scientifically. Yes he can subvert normal publication venues AND he can work on what he wants but so what. Doesn't make that any less interesting.
