COVID-19 was detected in collected sewage samples in Italy as early as December 18th, 2019. [2] With modern travel one can transport themselves from Wuhan to Milan in about a day. Whether or not it escaped from a lab or was borne of the wet-market, it feels as if it emerged well before December of 2019.
