The six-year-old iPhone 6S will get iOS 15, and that rules
- luke2m 5y agoI use a 6S plus, and am glad to see Apple caring about older devices. I guess there hasn’t been any huge changes in phone hardware since then [0]. I also wonder how iOS 15 will affect jailbreaking. 0. https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=23630126 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=23630126
- rektide 5y agoPersonally I am far more interested in Snapdragon 845 devices possibly starting to run mainline Linux this year. Alas probably the majority of the devices, even if kernel drivers do get good, will probably forever be stuck with locked bootloaders & their obsolete, radically insecure operating systems. This chip is from 2017, and pretty soon, most of these devices will be good only for land fills or e-recycling.
