When I'm coding, the frame-rate of the IDE is the least of my concerns - I'm busy thinking about what to type. Even if my IDE takes a while to start up, I'm ok with it because I don't really restart it/reboot my machine that often. In terms of ergonomics, both VSCode and Jetbrains IDEs support vi mode and work well enough to not be a show-stopper. Anyway, we definitely can do with more solutions to ensure diversity of choices so good luck to the project.
