A lot of imaging has significant, non-trivial consequences.
I am sitting here waiting for a MRI of a rare and interesting soft tissue tumour to come back in the next hour or two.

It was picked up by a musculoskeletal radiologist who noticed some slightly atypical features on an ultrasound and reccomended that I send the patient for a MRI.
I arranged the ultrasound since the clinical course was atypical and I was reminded of a case of PVNS (a diffuse form of this ) that I had seem a few years ago.
I have arranged to have one of the leading soft tissue sarcoma experts in the country to see the person if the MRI confirms the suspicion.
Hopefully, the fact that it has been detected early will minimise the likelihood of consequences like limb amputation and early funeral expenses.
