Counter-point: I had never heard the term "amortized analysis" before (I am self-taught) but when I looked it up, I realized "oh I've done this kind of thing before" and immediately understood what it was.. I just didn't know this kind of aggregated profiling had it's own name... So my advice would be don't be too quick to judge people based on assumptions you make about them.
