I like this idea better than Universal Basic Income, because it prevents workers from becoming lazy and subservient to the state. Also, a lot of people find purpose through their work, so this helps people from losing meaning in their lives. The actual work to be done can be determined by each community, which knows best about what work is required (e.g. child care, landscaping, etc.).
