The difference is they NOW tell you and it's a toggle between performance and battery life so users can choose and understand why their phone is slower and what to do about it. This was because of the outcome of a class action lawsuit and not the goodness of Apple's heart. They were hiding that they do this before. If it was so great why hide it? It scares someone into not trusting the repair shop! That's the whole point. Would you have kept going to your mechanic for 10 years if on the second visit when you turned the car on the speaker blared about a potentially harmful non-genuine part being installed? Or would you have gone to the dealership?

Nobody is blaring anything from a speaker. Why would you even say that except to exaggerate? It’s just a message. > Or would you have gone to the dealership? If I trusted the repair shop to explain what the message meant and why their part was ok, then why would I go the dealership?

  Do you work for Apple? Or can they just do no wrong in your eyes? I think slowing down my phone is pretty relevant and worth telling the user. That's why they got punished for it in the class action lawsuit. If the repair shop tells you they used a genuine screen, and your phone tells you it can't tell it's genuine or not who do you expect most people are going to trust? I think a good portion of people are going to feel lied to that they didn't put in a genuine screen when they actually did.
