[a16z] show that across 50 of the top public software companies currently utilizing cloud infrastructure, an estimated $100B of market value is being lost among them due to cloud impact on margins — relative to running the infrastructure themselves If you’re operating at scale, the cost of cloud can at least double your infrastructure bill. Repatriation results in one-third to one-half the cost of running equivalent workloads in the cloud.
- tarun_anand 5y agoI have mentioned this several times on this forums that public cloud pricing is a rip off. Even for small companies, they are better off looking at IaaS providers because 95% of companies just need compute and storage etc on demand.
