Tangential question, how does archive.{is,ph,etc} archive content that is behind so many different types of paywalls?
- beermonster 5y agoI guess they either pay, they are considered exempt (as sites wish their content to be archived and so allow it) OR they do what I do.. their scraper clears the cache/cookies and disables JS/use ad-blocker/use reader. A lot of paywalls can be bypassed with good digital hygiene (unintentionally) as those sites provide a certain quota of articles per month for free. Clean the state - voila. I still go via archive.* myself however and don’t deliberately evade paywalls, I just seem to slip past anyway.
