Nonetheless many of ZFS’s internal features are or were directly taken from WAFL, at least at an algorithmic level (nobody copied source code that I’m aware of). The snapshot mechanism in particular.
- failwhaleshark 5y agoHow can you even know or assume any of this? What evidence do you have? Snapshots aren't special magic from NetApp. Windows, HP-UX, LVM, and VMware have snapshots. I think you're stuck in religious reverence for all things NetApp. Good luck with that.
