One question here is that if some entity does not own the Rust and Cargo trademarks, would it be possible for a third party to claim to be "Rust" or worse register for the Rust trademark and prevent the Rust language community or foundation from distributing Rust and Cargo software. A related consideration is if one does own the Rust trademark, could one give up enforcability of the trademark if too lax a policy of use of the Rust trademark is put forth.
