but two-thirds of the Tesla site is located in a designated drinking water protection zone
Lack of due diligence, combined with an utter disregard for law and custom. Sounds like Elon Musk.
- verdverm 5y agoDo you really think he was personally involved in understanding the details of land mapping and local laws here? Is it more likely that a Tesla employee(s) handled this and reported up the chain?
- HarryHirsch 5y ago"Wasserschutzgebiet" is a big one, any local attorney could have informed him and probably did. Since you ask, yes, this is a high-level cock-up. If Elon Musk was unaware, which I can't believe, then the Tesla outfit has bigger problems. Musk really screwed the pooch here, committing who-knows-how-much money for for his Berlin site, even going ahead with construction, without understanding local land-use restrictions. That sort of investment isn't made unless top brass signs off on it. Musk has a documented habit of disregarding law and order. Remember that occasion where he crash-landed a rocket at Boca Chica, and FAA complained because explosions and human habitations nearby aren't really compatible, and demanded a safety review? He took to Twitter, launched anyway, despite a stop-work order, and that rocket crash-landed as well.
