I'm confused, what forces are preventing dealerships from selling teslas? Is he saying it's just illegal as a whole to sell Tesla cars as a dealership in South Carolina? Or is he saying Dealerships in South Carolina for whatever reason refuse to sell Teslas, and because of the law that says manufacturing and dealing must remain separate entities, Tesla cannot overpower this and just sell cars directly in the state of South Carolina?
- a3n 5y agoNo, the issue is that Tesla doesn't use dealerships at all, they sell direct to consumers. It's illegal in many states for a car manufacturer to sell direct, because they have a supposed unfair advantage over dealerships. The dealerships bribe their legislators -- oh, did I say that out loud? I meant donate to campaigns -- and the legislatures pass laws like this.
