Show HN: Chrome Extension to show electricity prices (starting with California)
- nikodunk 5y agoHi HN! Time-of-use and "demand charge" power pricing systems [1] mean that utilities in the US are starting to price their electricity dynamically though the day. It gets expensive at 4-9p when everyone wants to run their AC in summer, but is cheap in the early mornings. Problem: The times and prices change by weekday, season, and utility. Solution: A Chrome extension that shows you the current status, and whether to use / not to use. Starting with two utilities in California - PG&E [2] and SCE [3]. - Glench 5y agoHey this is really cool! If you ever think about charging for anything in your extension please check out my project ExtPay which makes it easy to accept payments in extensions: https://extensionpay.com https://extensionpay.com
- nikodunk 5y agoWow! What an awesome project! I've actually had this exact problem before on another extension I built. I'll look into it. You're like revenuecat for extensions, I'm guessing. Thanks for sharing! Edit: Nice landing page too.
- Glench 5y agoGlad you like it! I'm continually trying to improve it. I'm personally dissatisfied with the landing page but it gets the job done for now.
