Much like they were better of using PubSub rather than just GenServers, I wonder if they would actually be better off using Phoenix Presence (https://hexdocs.pm/phoenix/Phoenix.Presence.html https://hexdocs.pm/phoenix/Phoenix.Presence.html) rather than a hand rolled implementation.
