Last I checked, everybody in London is kicked out of the pub at some stupid hour like 9pm and they have to go to restaurants to keep drinking.

  Check again. Most pubs are open until midnight, and some are open further than that.

  That's more than 20 years ago, now the pubs are open much longer.
