Except that in America, the political right has now joined the alt-right in a state of “high conflict”, and are not only _actively preparing_ for civil war, but in many cases are _actively pushing FOR it._ The political right believes it is its god-given right to rule over America without interference by leftists, non-whites, and other undesirables, and is actually planning to kick off the apocalypse all on their own, especially if it doesn’t occur organically. The right might be batshit insane, but they’re still almost half the country - and almost all of them are wrapped up in anti-reality fake-news delusions that fly in the face of real-world evidence (just look how many smooth-brained ignoramuses still think that the election was stolen despite zero evidence and scads of Republican and Trump-appointed judges throwing out the lawsuits for lack of evidence). It’s a powder keg that only needs the right match to detonate.
