I ended up reverting to Firefox 88, losing my profile:
- downloaded Firefox 88 at: <https://download-installer.cdn.mozilla.net/pub/firefox/releases/88.0/win64/en-US/Firefo https://download-installer.cdn.mozilla.net/pub/firefox/relea...> (Windows)
Install, accept Create new Profile". Then immediately:
- check "Check for updates but let you choose to install them".
- uncheck "Use a background service to install updates"
