For the last 10 years I've alternated between being an employee and doing contract work. I usually like the contract work more, but I've found it much easier to find highly paid work as an employee. I have no doubt I can find $150k+ as an employee, but I've only once found contract work that pays over $65/hr.
I'd love to hear more about how people find contact work as a programmer.
- distances 5y agoInterestingly in Europe is pretty hard to reach even 80k€ in a salaried position (and I personally don't know a single individual contributor making 90k€), but contracting as a senior is quite possible for 90-110€/h. Totally flips the calculation.
