Bo Burnham’s ‘Inside’: A Comedy Special and an Inspired Experiment
- DrSiemer 5y agoMore than any of his previous shows I can't think about anything else since I've seen Inside. Sometimes you will laugh, but this is not comedy. It is so much more than that. The review is flawed, as it is clearly written by someone who has only watched it once. The first viewing is just the beginning, your introduction to an immensely layered masterpiece. For example, "White women's Instagram" is not just about signaling stereotypical phenomena in the subjects media output. In the bridge the song flips, to show how pure beauty and honesty can also exist among the flood of cliché snaps. It scares me how dead serious this man I admire so much considers the end of the world a given, and something not that far off at all. Maybe this is part of why he has already inspired so many creative people: if we truly are living in borrowed time, what's the point of wasting it on less meaningful things?
