Unrelated, but why would someone rent a house in the suburbs? Renting an apartment as a young person seems logical as you save for a down payment. Is it mainly people who can't afford a house or is there something else driving it?
- jurassic 5y agoRent vs buy is a complicated question, but I'm sure there are those who would prefer to keep their money invested rather than tie it up in the downpayment on a home. Especially if they think they might only be in that location for a few years. I'm thinking of military families who move every few years, or perhaps someone who is an academic and has to be nomadic in following fellowship and professorship opportunities.
