Still can't use it. The tabs have the close button on the wrong side, for me as a Mac user. And yes, this is a serious issue. So far Opera and Vivaldi got it right. Brave and Firefox lack behind here.
- brianzelip 5y agoI'm a Mac user and think Safari has the close tab button on the wrong side :)
- Torwald 5y agoWindows, the OS, introduced closing on the left. (Supposedly to evade lawsuit from Apple.) Closing on the right is the traditional way, from PARC onwards. On a Mac windows and everything else (eg Mac OS 9 palettes) has the close button on the right, as it should be.
- IceWreck 5y agoI think you accidentally interchanged left and right
- stuff4ben 5y agoIs it really? I have so many tabs open at once, it's just a slight move to the right to close a tab. But then I usually close my tabs with Command+W anyways.
- Torwald 5y agoI am not sure what you are trying to say here. For me as a die-hard, old-school Macintosh user the irritation is just too much. This wasn't a problem when you could just hide the tab bar and use windows instead. But having loads of windows open, all with one tab AND the tab bar, that's ridiculous.
- stuff4ben 5y agoYou must not have as many tabs open as I usually do or you're more of a mouse user than a keyboard user. If I ever do want to close a tab with my mouse, the tab width is so small, it's not that big of a deal to move my cursor over to the right instead of the left. But like I said, I don't ever do that, my hands are usually always on the keyboard, so Cmd-W is way faster.
- fsflover 5y agoWhy do you even need the close buttons on tabs? I close them with the middle click.
- conradfr 5y agoOn a Mac ?
- fsflover 5y agoOh, Macs don't have the middle click? Oh, my.
- fsflover 5y agoCan't you use triple tap like on any modern Linux?
- radley 5y agoThat's too much work. I wrote a Perl script to detect if a tab has been unused for a specific amount of time based on a Vim spreadsheet I wrote back in grad school and send a command line prompt to kill the page after updating all cookies with a randomized hash using only CJK unified ideographs.
- Torwald 5y agoI have a wheel there, it's awkward to "click" on that thing. But thanks for the tip anyway!
