As a Canadian who has a lot of Asian friends (and likely half-Asian children one day), correctly walking the line of calling out the CCP while making sure to never call out the Chinese people or attract negative externalities for Asian people is a hard balance to keep.
I hope it’ll get simpler to make that distinction with more people educated about the topic. However, I worry a lot that it’ll get more difficult as more attention is brought to the subject because it’s almost impossible to appropriately educate “crowds with pitchforks”.
Meanwhile, the current/increasing political and corporate influence of the CPP the risk[0] just seems too great.

- emmelaich 5y agoPedant here. The quote is > Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.
- selimthegrim 5y agoI hate to be that guy but Ben Franklin was talking about something different than this quote is made out to be.
- emmelaich 5y agoTrue but you should elaborate on what that thing is.
- 8note 5y agoI can't say I've found that hard. The party isn't the people, and usually if someone is not in mainland China, they aren't all that favourable to the party

- enw 5y agoWhat’s hard about saying “fuck the CCP”? It’s very specific; I don’t understand how anyone could conflate that with asians as a whole. Perhaps that’s their own skewed biases showing through?
- option 5y agoplus Chinese are actually the ones who suffer the most from ccp
- 01100011 5y agoIt's not hard to be specific in your messaging. It's hard to control how it is interpreted by a significant minority of the Western citizenry. Look at the rise in anti-Asian violence since Covid hit. It doesn't take a large portion of the population to misunderstand before people have to live in fear of being attacked.
- yazaddaruvala 5y ago> It's not hard to be specific in your messaging. It's hard to control how it is interpreted This is definitely the point I was trying to make. Thank you for stating this better than I could.
- cutemonster 5y ago>> It doesn't take a large portion of the population to misunderstand before people have to live in fear That's also a good point
- lazyeye 5y agoOne of the core tenets of CCP propaganda is equating attacks on the CCP as attacks on the Chinese people and therefore racist. It would be just as moronic to equate an attack on Trump as racist against white people.
